How did this meeting go? I know it was a few months ago, but what insight was shared? Springfield seems full of deals, but the area is very iffy.

@Joe Funari I am not limiting my geographic areas yet. Since i'm starting out in this, I would like to stay as local as possible, But I also know enough that my money might go further, and returns better in other markets. Going beyond my local area though poses the issue of finding a great, not good, property management company.

@Julia Ann roofstock does have homes in Jacksonville. I absolutely think I can invest without them locally, but I was curious if others had such great or terrible experiences that the additional charge might be worth it. Conversely, if I can leverage my funds better in a different market, how was everyone's experience with these companies.

Hey all, I’m looking to get involved in REI and gain my FI slowly and methodically. Out of state markets are showing much better numbers than local areas. Curious what experiences (good, bad, indifferent) from those investing out of state. Did you use HomeUnion or Roofstock? Any other similar companies out there? Would you recommend out of state property(ies) for a first purchase? Thanks!

I agree with Steve’s comments. As a resident of Jacksonville, not every area is great and not every area was impacted by Irma. It’s all about your goals and ways to achieve them.
