Welcome to the area @Mike Kehoe! I am still new to this game, but hope to help wherever I can. 

Evening Tidewater folks! 

So in my initial excitement about RE and trying to get started, I realized I haven't introduced myself to any of my neighbors! My name is Marcellus. Just recently moved here in April with the Air Force. I am from the Shenandoah valley originally, so it's great to be back in the Old Dominion. I have bought and sold a primary residence before, but I am looking to get into the buy-and-hold game to start building a legacy for my family. I hope to see you guys out at some of the meetups, and maybe grab a beer or two! I heard there are quite a few good breweries out here. Looking forward to meeting and learning from you all!

@Robert Goldman, would you say that those results/issues are based on your location, or is that what you have observed from multiple places/opinions from others? I admittedly was intrigued from that podcast episode and I appreciate your candor about it. 

      Additionally, does the job confer any “knowledge benefits”? Do you feel more knowledgable about loans or the closing process? I was thinking in any case it would potentially expose me to that world while also making (not much, from the sounds of it haha!) some money on the side. Any thoughts on that? 

@Robert Goldman This is huge man. Thank you so much for writing this! I was interested in looking down that path myself after listening the podcast, but this helps put things in perspective.

@Christopher Ewing Have you listened to the Biggerpockets money podcast talking about this? It was episode 74 I believe. I would start there if you haven’t!
