I will be sure to do that Jon! Thanks for reaching out.

I posted the question exactly for this reason, networking and working together will make this whole process easier. I also have reached out to a realtor in hopes to find some some off market deals as well. Ill be sure to send any your way that don't meet my criteria.

As for my criteria i am looking to purchase a multifamily i can house hack. when i run the numbers a tri or quad would work best.

When are you looking to buy?

Anywhere specifically?

How many units?

Are you already an investor?

I'd love to keep in touch, in the future id love to partner with someone from our area and purchase a bigger deal. Always been a dream of mine!

Currently deployed overseas, later this year I am looking to buy a multifamily property, 2-4 units, within a 50 mile radius of Albany, NY.

If you're looking to sell within the same time frame and the numbers work. id love to work together over the next few months and create a win-win situation / investment.

If you're not looking to sell, do you know of someone who is? it would be greatly appreciated if i was pointed in the right direction! Thanks BP!

@Tchaka Owen thank you Mr. Owen that's great advice and I am more than appreciative that you reached out to me. I will be sure to take this information and run with it. I'll have plenty of reserves too. I have been reading up on the importance of quality tenants and will aim for just that.

Also my second question is price. I know if the numbers and location work then it is a no brainer but I feel like I have to aim for a property that's in the 150-250k range, because it's my "first house".. I have no idea where I'm getting these thoughts from. Would it be wrong if I found an amazing property in a great location and paid 300-350k? I am planning for a long term run here..

I am 25, currently deployed overseas and plan on using the VA home loan within the next 14 months to purchase a cash flowing investment property that I can house hack. I am looking for advice and recommendations on which type of property would best set me up for success, would a quad be to much to handle for my first property? I am leaning towards more units because I simply would like more cashflow, but does it matter? could a duplex or tri be the same? I know I am being vague and there is multiple variables involved here, i.e. the numbers, the area, my personal knowledge, ect... but what are some of your experiences? what would you all have done differently at 25 with a VA home loan, with 0% down and looking to house hack?

@David Acosta wow thank you Mr. Acosta. That was exactly what I was looking for and I planned on occupying one of the units. This advice is worth gold to me this early in the game and I'll be sure to keep you updated. I inquired earlier and will be talking to a lender I found after I get my COE, what you said provides the next step necessary. Thank YOU for your service, and prayers for you go out durring this crazy time.
