I would not let anyone define where my life was headed but me.

I lost my leg at 14.  My mom told me to live of SSI because "what if my condition worsened?" I have been employed full time since 16 and am now 34.  I refused to live (Exist) at home waiting for the 1st of the month.  For me that is not a life!

I had a long time dream of becoming a Real Estate Broker.  People said I should not because I am disabled.  I went to college, and also got my real estate license all while being a single mom and working full time.  I refuse to live my life based on other peoples limiting beliefs of myself.  Neither should you.

I love the cash for keys option.  I learned about it here on BP.  as mentioned by @Quincy Lockett. Paying someone to leave verses the cost of the eviction process and the headache.  That is why I love it here so much, we learn so much from each other.

@Account Closed I am glad to see you have figured things out.  Like Tony Robbins says "we do not lack resources, only resourcefulness."

I have my Illinois brokers license.  It is inactive unless you have it hung at a sponsoring brokers office.  I have plans to be an investor as well.  I realize that having my license and taking the required licensing classes is bare minimum education for being a broker.  Once you have your license, being under a sponsors supervision, while getting your feet wet is when you will get the most value for your license.

Maybe not be laser focused on what you want, But atleast have some criteria as to what you are looking for in an investment.

I went to class with a company called I Love Real Estate School.  Art is great.  I took my classes at a college and had difficulty passing the state exam.  I went to class with Art and passed the exam right away.  He holds classes in Naperville, Chicago and a few other locations. https://iloverealestateschool.com/

Hope this helps!

Hello fellow BPers,

I work a 9-5 and recently got my Brokers license In Chicago.  I have always had a passion for real estate. I love all the posts, blogs and podcasts. We are a great community.

I am hoping to start out with a house back in the next year. But right now I'm learning all I can. Signed up for my 2nd webinar and even my first meetup. So it is time to stop being a lurker.
