@Leslie A. I would also add that modern mobile homes are pretty energy efficient. The repairs and maintenance are no different than a stick built home in my experience. I’ve lived in several MHs over almost thirty years.

Many people wouldn’t be able to own a stick built home large enough for their family, due to limited funds or poor credit. It’s certainly not taking advantage of anyone to provide a nice, well maintained park for them to live in.

@Ebony S.

@Michael Baradell. I would pass because I’m a cheapo and mobile homes depreciate.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m in favor of them as investments, but I would go for used ones that aren’t too old in nice condition. You might get all three for the price of one new one. I understand you’d have to find a lot outside the city, though, and that’s not necessarily easy.

@Josh Pratt. Also wanted to add, with our rentals, we had it setup where the renter had to pay any excess over $80 a month. It was rare that anyone went over. Even here in blazing hot Houston.

@Josh Pratt are these lived in continuously or as vacation type rentals? For lived-in RVs, I’d say $30-$90 a month, with an average of about $50. Like Frank said, though, depends on the time of the year.

@Patrick Sears. Also, Vanderbilt Mortgage might be a possible option for financing

@Patrick Sears I haven’t done this personally, but know a fair amount about MHs. My choice would be to buy homes that are not too old and still in very good condition. They would need little work, yet be significantly cheaper than new.
