Happy New Year everyone! We're excited to kick off 2021 with another Zoom meet up. We love that these virtual events have made it possible to allow investors outside of the South Jersey area to attend. 

This month we will hear from Travis, TheYoungRetireeBy33. Travis is a FIRE advocate who started investing in real estate by house hacking in 2016. He has since purchased three additional properties and focuses solely on short term rentals. In 2020, even with the pandemic, he grossed $111k in short term rental income through Airbnb. 

With his Industrial Engineering background, he has developed a set of systems to help him manage 5 short term rental units all from his phone all while working a full-time job. Come prepared with all of your short-term rental and automation questions!

Everyone mentioned the big stuff, SS appliances, dishwasher, and washer dryer in unit. We invest in an area where homes are over 100+ years old so we find a huge return on updating plumbing and providing new toilets. While we can't increase rent, this cuts down BIG on maintenance calls and capex headaches in the future. We're big on front loading cap ex items to limit the amount of work needed while the unit is occupied.

Hi Kevin, Congrats on the duplex! Glad Steven is working out. We are closing on a property this week with garages as well so while I don't have any experience yet, I will in the coming weeks and will be happy to share whatever I learn!
