Quote from @Angelo Llamas:

Recently bought a rental that I am living in and will start to renting it out early next year. I’ve done my calculations and have seen that I will be breaking even with this investment day one. On a rental that’s not generating income is it any different book keeping wise then you would for a rental that’s is making money Or what are good things to know or learn Thank you !

I agree with a lot of the feedback above. For real estate specific tax and accounting systems I looked at Stessa, Digb, Baseline. The one you select really depends on your needs and bookkeepers preference.

Hi Everyone,

We are planning to rent out our properties and want to use our existing S-Corp for this. Can anyone recommend a reliable real estate tax consultant with expertise in both California and Ontario (Canada) property tax regulations?

Thank you!

Can make suggestion. Feel free to reach out if you are still looking for help.

hmmm, not sure about this

Based on what you said I think it would be a good idea to get one.

Quote from @Tom Gorrell:

I love my CPA just wondering about what a fair price is for a CPA to do our taxes. Perhaps my current firm at $6,000 is a little more suited for people with a bigger portfolio.

We have 4 rentals.

This might make sense depending on size of rentals and # of LLCs that are required to file - need more info to help.

Christopher, I have a similar business and work with Digb. They're focused on real estate investors and GPs with growing portfolios. Feel free to reach out if I can provide more info.
