@Jorge Ruiz I wish it was in the cards to stay longer, damn job... But I have the light at the end of the tunnel and will be retiring from my 1st career in January... Then I'm sure that I will be able to spend time doing what I want and not have to ask permission. Thanks for the advice!

I currently use the MacBook Air as my laptop. I find that it meets my "on the go" needs just fine. If you are planning on doing any large scale graphics or video it can lag a bit. If that is the plan I would advise you look into the MacBook Pro and get your most bang for your buck.

I have been focusing on properties in the South/ North east area, avoiding the inner city (at least until I can see for myself what the area entails). Looking at properties in solid C to B- properties.

@Rijm D. - Definitely can't speak German! I too looked into Indy and Columbus but I have friends that are in MKE and Jacksonville. So boots on the ground made my picks on those markets easier.

@Jon Lee I have been planning on making one of your meetings but my schedule never seems to jive. I might be able to make a Saturday in the near future, I'll let you know!

I am in a similar situation in Las Vegas. Bought my primary residence in 2012 for 165k now worth 305k. I have decided to sell my primary residence and invest in the Midwest. It was a difficult decision as my family is emotionally attached to this home but based on the financial gains of investing the tax free appreciation it makes sense for us.

Which ever choice you make it seems that you are in a good position!

Hello BP,

As you can see from my subject line I have been on BP for a minute. I have been listening and absorbing as much  information as humanly possible over the last year now it is time to take action.

I am not new to the real estate industry. Back before the market crash I owned a luxury real estate publication and also was previously married to a broker. In the past I have owned numerous SFR properties and currently own 2 in Las Vegas were I reside. My wife and I currently work W2 jobs which due to changes in the industry standards, lack of control and 70+ hour work weeks (both of us work in Federal Detention Center) we will be retiring from this field as of January 14th, 2019. But our main goal is to spend some quality time with our 3 year old daughter before she starts school and to do so we are taking a 6 month RV trip across the US starting in March 2019. I am also currently awaiting my RE licenses in Nevada and should be licensed any day now. Possibly a new career? We will see...

We are in the process of selling our properties in Las Vegas and plan investing in the Midwest. We have been researching markets and  have come up with Milwaukee and Jacksonville. We are heading to Milwaukee in early August to scope out the area then possibly to Jacksonville in late September.

I want to thank all the members  of the BP community for their assistance during my learning phase. I hope that one day I will be able to provide other members with valuable info and insight as I grow as an investor!
