Post: Fortune Builders Thoughts on 3 Day Summit

So I paid for and attended a Fortune Builders 3-day event for $197. They're was a decent amount of information passed, but I was always brought back to cost vs. value, and then immediately came the $50,000 sales pitch. I will admit, they did it right. Presented scarcity, by saying you have to apply and meet certain criteria, one of them being money of course.

I purposefully completed my application and only met the money criteria to see how things would go. I told them I was not interested and not coachable. Somehow I was accepted after meeting no criteria but money.

Now, for those without money but the drive and willingness to put yourself into debt, don't worry they are more than willing to give you time to apply for a loan, call and up your credit limit, or take out a HELOC.

I have purchased programs in the past and took from them what I could. But this one I could not buy into. They preached integrity but did not tell us the real reason why they were doing this.

The people teaching the classes make more money from selling the system than actually using the system. That's the equivalent of someone telling you to eat subway to lose weight, but eat all of there meals from meal prep specialist.

This is a clear case where selling the system is way more lucrative than actually employing the system.

If anyone has actually used this signed up and used this system, please feel free to comment as I'm very thrown off by the whole presentation and any means necessary to get your money.

Last thing. You have to take into account of how many events they do and the fact that they offer one On one coaching. How!!!!! They do roughly 75 events per year and take an average of 20 students per event. How do they employ enough qualified mentors and coaches to comfortably say they can offer this from active rehabbers and wholesalers. If you can make it with this program, you can make it without. There is no seen added benefit to this cumbersome endeavor.

@Sheila Campbell I am active Marine Corps with two kids and two with two different mothers. I take care of both kids and keep the mothers happy. (not a cheap task). But I make time to search deals and offer my help to local investors and agents for nothing more than experience. Oh yea I forgot to mention that I have a part time job working security and also 3 semesters away from my bachelors in forensic accounting. I saw all this to simple say people make time for what they consider to be their priorities. So of you truly want to get into investing you will do whatever it takes. Even if that means not being able to go out to the clubs or whatever else you are doing with your free (read wasted) time. Last note, if someone gives you advice and they are where you are trying to be. You should probably stop making excuses and figure out how you can do what they are advising. Best of luck to you from another super motivated newbie.

@Stuart Smith I was modeling my whole business around this concept. Houses from 20k to 40k with no more than 5k worth of work. I hadn't thought of the idea of portfolio loans until you said it. So if I hadn't made it clear I think it's a very sound idea. Depending on how well you screen your tenants. But honestly the same can be said for all price ranges and all neighborhoods.

@Rick Pozos I signed up for the free 30 days of it to see if it was worth the money. I think it would be later on when I'm more established, but you are right I've been reading and listening to podcasts. Learning as much as I can. But it's definitely something I will look into when I'm a little more established.

@Shiloh Lundahl first off, congrats on reach that milestone. I've heard the first million is the hardest. And I think it's because you are building Tha habits and the income that will get you there. Now you know the habits and how to build the income. Just figure out a way to scale that and double then triple and keep going until you feel comfortable enough to relax and take your foot off the gas because your business is making money without you.

Try not to focus so much on making your budget smaller than your income, but rather making sure your income exceed your budget. That has been my understanding from the many books and video series that I've encountered so far.

If you would, please keep us updated on how things are going and how you reach your next milestone. It really gives me faith that I can do this for my family when I see the an everyday person like myself getting out and making a major change in there "financial status".

@Brandon Phillips that was a great help. Would you happen to have any advice on how to find some of the smaller HML?
