Thanks Mike. My properties are in Baytown (east Houston) and Corpus Christi. Have you started your real estate investing yet?

Dwaynia,

Great to see so much interest in the Southern Alabama area.  I own one rental property in Semmes and am currently looking for more.  I live about 3 hours away in Covington, LA but am always interested in talking to or meeting new real estate investors.  Good luck with your future goals.

Hello Bigger Pockets, my name is Keric Allen and I currently live outside of Covington, LA.  I unexpectedly began my real estate investing/rental property career in 2007 after a job transfer forced me to quickly become a landlord.  I have successfully been leasing that property since 07’ and have since acquired 2 additional rental properties in Texas.  All of these properties started out as my personal residence and when I relocated for my job, I turn them into rentals.

I came to bigger pockets to increase my knowledge, hopefully meet investors near me, and possibly provide some advice or insight (with my limited experience) from lessons I’ve learned in the past while dealing with rental properties.  My main area of focus is “buy and hold” and my goal is to acquire 2 more properties in 2017 and own 1 property free and clear in the next 3-5 years.

I will have the opportunity to retire from my current job in 5 years.  Until then I plan on finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate Studies, obtain my real estate agent license, and eventually a broker’s license with the intent of opening a property management business in Southern Alabama.
