This does not describe any of the STVRs I have ever stayed in or the ones I or my neighbors own. The above experience just represents poor owner management.

In response to the OP's question, first I would advise getting out of CA and head over to AZ. They are very friendly towards STVRs, there's a statewide law that prohibits interference by localities. When we opened ours last year, I approached neighbors (somewhat tentatively) to inform them that there was going to be a BnB in the neighborhood...100% of them were nearly ecstatic because of the good experiences they'd had with other BnB's....super clean houses, inside and out, nice tourists to interact with, Etc...

thank you. My parents just purchased one and got it listed in AZ. I hear they are friendly which is great. Been looking at a place to invest out of state. I have rentals in Missouri but not sure about legislation there either. any recommendations for AZ. Tempe good?

Hello,

I was just presented with an offer to buy a home in Springfield, Missouri. As of now I have plans only to be buying str. My question is if anyone is familiar with Springfield if they would allow me to be a non owner occupied home and still short term rental it? thanks guys.

@Cody L. True words. So crazy. I'm not sure I completly understand why someone wouldn't want to allow STR? What's the reasoning for this for a place like San Diego?

That’s the plan. I got a small team I am putting together as we speak to do this just learning different areas. The place I purchase rentals is not a good play for airbnb

I'm located in Chattanooga, TN. There are a decent number of STRs here, as it is a tourist destination. Pigeon Forge, TN is touted as having great returns for STR, but I don't know the specifics and can't speak to it personally.

Price isn’t much of a concern if numbers pan out. My question is what price point seems to draw those type of returns.

But, this way of approaching the planning seems totally backwards.  It's like saying, "I want to open a shop and make 100 sales per day. Which shop should I open?"  That's easy - just open a Fry's Electronics location and I'm sure you'll hit that.

That may be. Learning numbers and trying to understand what’s possible I think is wise. Best of luck to ya

Hello,

So I have 2 properties in Missouri and wanted to branch out specifically into the short term rental market. My main concern is cash flow. I want to cash flow if possible 1k or more from each property I would buy.

Is this too aggressive?

I have been talking to realtors but no one seems to know about str and data for it. Looking if numbers exist to grab a pm since I am ok with out of state.

I live in San Diego but looking into Tennessee, lake havasau, big bear, Arizona.

Location is not of a concern just hitting the cash flow as this would be a business endeavor moving forward. ANY help would be great. THis is a new space for me and would like to understand what’s possible and where is it best possible achieved! Thanks guys.
