Welcome @Heidi Foster! Mark your calendar for the 4th Thursday of every month. We do a casual investor happy hour and the location bounces around the city. Check the events page when it gets closer to time.

I talked to my banker before quiting my job made sure it wouldn’t effect it.

Dude. This is not good. You have tried making this point multiple times: that you view yourself as better than your wife and the rest of the 99% of people out there spending like crazy. She isn't wrong on this. You are the one spending like crazy on your dream (and $30k truck) and she is the one who is broke because of your spending. From your posts, you are the one racking up massive debt with no household income to show for it even after years of working on it.

I don't know of any "big money makers" telling people:

  • Live off one income while only making one income (this advice assumes TWO incomes)
  • Never pay yourself and instead, invest every single dime back in, even if it ruins your marriage (they all say to pay yourself first)
  • Buy a new vehicle (for the business) and pay for it with your spouse's personal income (if the business has no net profit to cover a new truck, don't buy it and what you do buy should be expensed from the business)
  • You don't need to be on the same page with your spouse if you think you are right or better than them (every one of the big money makers who are happily married will tell you that you need to SHARE dreams and goals with your spouse, not force it on them against their will)

You need to get your own perspective in check if you have any chance of a happy marriage and a successful business. I honestly wish you luck. It sounds like you have made some great buying decisions and now you just need to recheck the execution of that dream and learn how to compromise with the one you love.

For some reason, the Chattanooga keyword alert doesn't always go through on the event posts. Looking forward to seeing everyone at tonight's Investor Happy Hour at Edley's BBQ.

:) maybe this one will trigger an alert

*Announcing the August Happy Hour! (Jenna will be out of town so look for Kelly, the 5-foot-short girl with curly hair, instead)

Thursday, August 23rd from 5PM - 8PM(ish) - we'll meet at Edley's Bar-B-Que in Northshore Chattanooga. I'll be there early to grab some tables for our group's size and meet folks. Edley's Bar-B-Que has Thursday 2 for 1 draft drink specials from 3 until 6PM and a good food menu if you're hungry.

As always, this event is a casual, relaxed, no sales, no agenda, gathering of area investors. This event has been a lot of fun and extremely helpful - looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting some new folks!

Where: Please meet us on the patio near the outside bar.

Parking: There is plenty of free parking all the way around the building. Additional parking on the other side of Whole Foods or across Manufacturers Road ($).

Note: This event is every 4th Thursday of the month.

Please RSVP above just so I can grab enough tables.

See you there!

~ Kelly

@Tyrel Holman Multi family complexes that are on the market have pretty bad cap rates.

City taxes are way worse than county but still not crazy like a lot of other cities. Single family is tough right now. We have a lot of interest from out of area investors and our prices are higher and higher.

I will say, I moved out to Chattanooga less than a year ago and I absolutely love this big little city! It's a great place to live and I have no regrets about moving.

Just to clarify, the usual Chattanooga Investor Happy Hour is actually the 4th Thursday of every month, not the 3rd. We certainly don't have any exclusive rights to planning meetups in the area. Just hate that these landed on the same day since I like to attend as many local events as I can.

@Rashad Jones Jennings This is the same time and day as our regular monthly local Chattanooga Investor Happy Hour at Southside Social this month. You may want to consider another day for a better turnout and to avoid confusion.

Don't worry about having to come after work. I don't think I have left before 8pm once yet. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
