@Nicholas Ladesic as mentioned earlier the REIA meetings are an excellent opportunity to network, and gain useful information. I am not a member yet, but I have attended as a guest a month or so ago, and it's the main reason why I began to get serious about real estate.

I have friends who rent and flip houses in the Monroeville area, and they have seen vast success with in the foreclosure auctions held Downtown.  Unfortunately, they aren't on here yet, but with a little skill in rehabbing, you should be able to see considerable gains.

Hope this helps, feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Kashiff

Wow that does seem incredibly inefficient ha. I should probably clarify for future reference, that I intend to locate off-markets, to use in a buy, rent, and hold process. I don't intend on wholesaling, and I wanted to explore non-traditional (MLS, zillow, auction) means of researching. Nonetheless, the information you have provided is extremely useful.

You wouldn't happen to have any experience in multi-family listings would you @Jerry Kisasonak??

@Jerry Kisasonak those are excellent things to consider. It seems like you've experienced these frustrations in the past, I'm curious to know if you've identified a more effective solution. Thanks again for your insight.

@Cody Campbell it seems that's a viable option. Any suggestions on lists?

BiggerPocketers, I'm trying to find a way to creatively buy off-market properties in Pittsburgh. I had an idea to look up local recently sold lists in areas I'm interested in. I've also heard inheritance and probate lists were a good start but I haven't found a solid tool to track these (I.e. Without paying). Please drop any strategies you've heard of or found success in. Thanks in advance. Kashiff
