Lots of areas west of Chicago.  Are you talking Dupage County?  I think thats a very good market with a lot of growth opportunities.  Like in areas close to the metra like Glen Ellyn, Addison, Wheaton, etc...

If you are talking West Chicago like Austin and Garfield Park then you have a different story all together.

A simple search on the MLS or Realtor.com will give you a bunch of options.
For example, 1805 Cornelia is a 50x125 tear down going for $650K

The best and only time to buy is when you are ready.

There are always deals in every market, just depends how hard you want to work.
