I've also found a couple of REI clubs up here. There are two members on here that run a club called REX: Kevin Cross and Adam Heafner. If you get in touch with them they'll fill in the details for you

Hello from Alaska! I'm a born and raised Alaskan. My experience in real estate so far is buying the condo that my wife and I purchased 7 yrs ago. Since buying our home we have made major renovations to the property. With a background in construction I have done 90% of the work myself. Our goal is to start with a buy and hold strategy and build up properties for retirement. My aunt and uncle (Real estate agents in Washington) turned me on to BP and I can honestly say it's been the single greatest resource for learning REI so far.

I personally would love to get to the point where I could quit my current day job, working with the State of Alaska, and be my own boss. I'm also kicking around the idea of getting my real estate license. We are currently in the process of selling our condo FSBO and using the equity that we've built up to buy a 4plex with the owner occupy scenario. I have read articles and listened to the BP podcasts and like a sponge I am soaking in all the great info. I'd love to find mentors on the site that would be willing to impart wisdom on a newbie.
