@Nathan G. Love this idea!

I wouldn’t have learned about real estate investing without BP. I was googling ways to become financially free and it popped up.

I learned through another member about creating partnerships and how to structure them. I was able to purchase a duplex that cash flows over $200 for each of us. Was an amazing piece of advice and wouldn’t have that property without it!

@Shelleman Paulin I like you take on that. I think part of my confusion comes from people just saying they are looking for a mentor. If you don’t have a clear and defined reason for having one I can’t see how you would ever find one or if you did how do you know you selected the next one.

I like what you said about someone who has done what I am inspiring to do. I often think about this when I get negative feedback on ideas and immediately think, “is this person in a position on what to be in?” If the answer is yes I will listen much more intensely because they have discovered something I am looking for.

The piece on bringing value to them is often over looked. The people we are inspiring to be have a huge dollar per hour cost and if you expect to get it for free that is poor thinking.

Best of luck when you find one and I would love if you reached out once you find one!

@Lanora Bowman Are you limiting the mentor to real estate then? Or is more of an overall mentor? Do you plan to have it more planned out that there is structure or more informal?

I recently had a post about my goals for 2020 and I have seen a good amount of people posting that their goal is to find a mentor. I am curious as to why so many people have this goal along with ideas and approaches to achieving this. I am not down playing its importance or saying these are bad goals or not necessary, I am more curious to understand the why.

Love to hear everyone's thoughts!

@James Carlson Love the goals! Congrats on the purchase. That is awesome. I think that is really cool about you wanting to become an employing broker. I have that as a long-term goal because I like you love being able to coach and help others. Pickle ball is an intense game! I have seen some people at my local gym who are way too good. The name pieces is really powerful. Everyone's favorite word in their language is their own name. I struggle with this as well, but it can have a huge impact! Best of luck with all of the goals!
