Depends on what is nearby and the demographics. Aside from hospitals, do you have any universities? Big companies/corporate headquarters? Seasonal retirees? Lots of young people having babies?

People have all kinds of reasons for wanting a mid term rental, it's just a matter of finding them.

If you can't even get someone on the phone tells you what the rules are, then logic would tell me that they aren't exactly covering the enforcement side of things either. Someone with a complaint would have the same issue.

Look at what the cost of the fine is, if caught, and weigh that against the gains you could realize by breaking the rules.

Dude!!! That's a whole lotta batteries you are going through!  Can you not set a notification on your door lock to alert you when batteries are going low?

The August does that. Seems to need a new battery every 4 months or so.

Quote from @Andrew Simms:

We have 2 and the lockbox. We wanted at least one backup option without having to give guests access to physical keys. It was between $100-$150 for the additional electronic lock and I think that was money well spent. That said, I don't think any guest has had an issue with our main door lock so the backup may never get used. I've also never had to give guests access to the lockbox.

Plus the peace of mind of knowing all the exterior doors are locked.

Crime Grade is crap. It displays what I know for a fact to be A+++ neighborhoods in towns that I've spent decades in with $1M+ homes, that I know are some of the safest and high end neighborhoods out there, as dark orange. It's nonsense. Seems they aggregate all crime and group them by some meaningless border less census tract or something. Plus they are trying to upsell you on other services.

You guys are so vanilla with your wildlife sightings, am I the only one who gets weird human activity on my cams? LOL

Watched the cams one Sunday morning because it alerted a person overnight. I was being vigilant because I had just booted out a drywall crew from Angi's List that seemed to have been squatting and did the most horendous job ever.

A woman was ringing the doorbell and shouting "I know you're in there! I want my phone back!". Looked like she was using "Find My Phone" on her Apple watch and had zero'd it down to my house. She kept ringing and ringing with her car parked, doors open and running in front. Camera cut out for a while, then I saw the sheriff. Not sure if she called them or they saw the car parked with lights on in front, but he rang for a while as well. Eventually they gave up and left.

Given that I only have one direct neighbor, who seems like a chill guy who wouldn't steal someones phone, with other structures at least a solid 70+ feet away and most 200+ feet, I can't help but think that maybe there is a phone buried in the house somewhere that the shady dry wall crew somehow got their hands on!

I am an STR owner and property manager myself in YV and have noticed that I am pretty fully booked! I do have lower prices than most at the moment but we are doing well! I have heard about increased restrictions though so I will be looking elsewhere to invest in STRs

Stoked for you! Must be doing something right, even aside from pricing.

A market that traditionally has mediocre demand, suddenly has MASSIVE demand as everyone's travel is essentially forced into it

Absolutely. I never thought about in a full circle kind of way, but now that I think about it, the first time I’ve ever been to JT or Palm Springs after living in central California for most of the last 20 years was in . . . You guessed it . . . December 2020 😂

Stunning! Very nicely done. Love the setting, very similar geology to that first trail on the north end of JT that it seems they  based the movie "Cars" off of.
