@Jay Hinrichs

Well that was a different way to put this into your real perspective which is pretty clear that because @Liz Cole and I are females we will not be putting on tool belts!

This post has gone way to the extreme from its original intent. Therefore, I’m going to simply end my thoughts on the matter but not by first clearing up the idea that is Woman can’t put on tool belts. While there are many woman who do, there are just as many who don’t. This is not about gender but about choice. Also as an investor I would hope to not be “ramrodding” over a project to ensure it’s timely completion. Everyone has a job to do and everyone chooses how they do it.

But as I sign off, I don’t want this message to be misconstrued that I’m any way upset about our dialogue, we simply have different views and opinions as far as investments.

Great Topic!!

@Account Closed like myself has Thought this out for a while and has a plan for how to handle this investment. Liz, I planned on going to Home Depot and Loews while I was at my area, however due to weather conditions I opted out. But that is definitely a great idea!!

Didn’t actually go for that reason, but they were there so why not introduce myself and ask? It’s amazing how people react when they are approached unexpectedly in a nonconventional setting ;)

Liz Cole Congratulations on your decision!!! As a newbie I can suggest you go to that area and “get your boots on the ground”. This week I took a 6 Hour drive to my preferred market area. As you stated I too live in a area where it is not financially possible to start off and get the first few deals off the ground. Some may suggest otherwise, however this is a personal decision and only You can make that!! During my visit to my area I went to local restaurants and asked staff if they knew people in the business. Needless to say I received a contact for a local handyman. I also went to an auction where I met some actual investors and got a few phone numbers. Then in the evening I went to a bar! Yes a bar!! And guess what I found?? Some contractors!! Despite my different approach to finding a team I can say it was a successful 2 day trip. Came back home with 1. Local Real Estate Investors contact 2. Local licensed agent 3. 3 different contractors in the area contacts 4. A local handyman May not be the conventional approach but took advantage of my Womanhood and got the information I needed. And before anyone gets the wrong idea let me make this clear, I was not mingling with these individuals it was completely business talk; as I was with my 10 year old daughter during all of this( except the bar)

@Raylan Willis yes that is correct, my son lives off campus very close to south campus. During my searches today I saw tons of pending sales and prices are definitely going up from when I started looking a year ago. Wish I had started a year ago, but glad that I am now determined to make it happen this year!  Thanks for the recommendation I will be in communication with @michael Calabrese

@Raylan Willis thanks so much for your response! I am also looking in the UB area for student rentals. My son goes to UB and that’s how the idea sparked since we pay for his housing, might as well make it an investment 👍🏻

Where do you currently invest in?

If you can recommend some great people to connect with it would be great!!!

@Raylan Willis Hi great to see some info on Buffalo!! Is renting rooms to students legal in the buffalo? Just wondering because in NYC it isn’t.
