Thanks,

Never used it myself, but i know it works because I worked with a top agent and we were always looking for newer agents to take the leads we didn't want.

Also, why were we ALWAYS looking for newer agents?  Because most agents aren't very good, so you have to go through a ton to find decent ones to refer to.

Funny thing, most had poor follow up skills.  They'd forget to ask for more referrals from us!  Silly agents.

I see..Interesting. I want to be the best agent!! (no license just yet) :)

I started to say... the lower end agent has to be liked by the top agent and be very good at what they do to have leads passed down to them otherwise it could make the top agent look bad. Its the same at a 9-5 job. You recommend someone who you know is the best for the job. Only work with the best, and the best results happen. :)

lol silly agents. That I def will never be! That is why I am on here. To learn from others mistakes, successes and failures. How they bounced bk etc..

Thanks.

I'm not sure if I completely understand your question...as there are so many variables to a person's "path".   If you are just starting as an agent, I would strongly recommend that you work for a broker.  Learn from your broker... or learn from education that is provided to you by your company. There is no reason to start your agent career as a broker (or in my market as a "managing broker"

My apologies. I am in the process of becoming a RE agent. I would like to get out of my 9-5 and work for a Broker if it is possible. I have Admin skills that are transferable and my next step is to see if this is even possible prior to becoming Licensed. Then again, I dnt know if hourly pay plus commission is possible once I am Licensed. This way I can still have money to pay my bills, ill gain experience and I can take calls hopefully and not miss them like I would if I were at my 9-5 medical office position.

Dan,

I have 2 pieces of advice that I think are the most important when it comes to being a real estate agent for real estate investors:

1. If you haven't already...start investing yourself.   It is very very difficult to have credibility with the investor community if you're not an investor yourself.   So, go out and buy a door or two (while you still have that other job).

2. QUIT YOUR JOB!   In my opinion very very few part time agents can be a successful agent if they have another job.  I know you mentioned you plan on dedicating 40-50 hours a week to RE, but if there is ever a time that you can't answer your phone because you're at your "9-5" than it's going to cost your RE business.  I'm not saying that it can't be done, but IMO the odds of being successful are exponentially less.

Also, think about it from your client's POV.  "If Dan is as good as he says he is, why does he have another job?" "You're right honey, RE is all that Rob does, let's give him a call!"  I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I'm just trying to help you succeed.

Thank you for the nice advice! Nice to hear the truth.. The only way to void my 9-5 is by working for a broker. Am I on the right path?

Thank you Christine! Sounds like I am on the right track and their program is successful. Are you now working with them? If so, How is it? Any suggestions?

Thanks again Christine.

@Lauren Heart

Thank you for the advice, it was very helpful and you are ABSOLULY right!  I will def look into it and I can keep you posted since you gave me the advice :) I would like that.

It would be awesome to find a Realtor who would be willing to pay for my License and who is willing to train.

I even asked myself it made sense to work for a PM with a license and it didn't sound right. I was thinking it may make sense to do that until I get my license, but I makes way more sense to work with a Broker since it goes hand in hand. I still don't know when my degree will come into play, but I am hoping it will be useful since I am paying for it.

I can talk to local Realtor's and visit some open houses too. Whatever it takes, ill do it. Thanks again and talk to you soon!

BP,

I have no experience in the Real Estate field and would like to get my foot in the door. My Resume is getting noticed, however, I have not had any calls. I would like to start off as a Leasing Agent. brokerage assistant etc, but am starting to loose hope. I created a resume that clearly shows I am a Undergrad getting a BS Degree in Business with a minor in Marketing and it shows my past sales and customer service experience. Other than that, I have Medical front office listed on there. This is where it is hurting my chances.

I created my Resume to show employers I am seeking a career change. I do not want to work in the admin medical field anymore since I am wanting to get my License in Real Estate and go from there. I think it is best to start now and gain experience in my chosen field. Dont you?

Thanks BP
