Well done, it's nice to start the year off with a home run like that.

I'm considering looking to pick up something in the BCS market this year. Any recommendations on wholesalers in the area that could put me on their lists?

I use Goosehead or NREIG. They've both given better rates for the same coverage compared to anyone else I've dealt with.

@Chaunna Henry, you posted under the Houston Real Estate Forum. Might want to repost a bit closer to your area unless you're coming to Houston.

Best of luck to you!

Not sure of your budget but the Heights and the surrounding neighborhoods have houses with garage apartments. Coming from California you might not get sticker shock too bad.

If you rent that out and a room or two on the main house you'll be sitting pretty good. Rents are nice in that area and it's not far from the medical center.

I also look at Zumper and Hotpads to find comparable rental prices.

Bumping this thread hoping someone can give an answer to that last question.

I'm in a similar but bit different scenario. I purchased a property cash then did a delayed financing loan shortly after.

Reading through @Brandon Hall's article and the IRS publications it seems some items go to adding to the property cost basis and get depreciated, others apply to loan cost basis and are amortized over the duration of the loan. Can someone chime in if the refinance adds more to the property cost basis or if one of the closings can be deducted this year?
