Post: Did you create an LLC when you began aquiring properties ?

@David M. thank you for the helpful info. We have also been exploring the idea of creating an LLC. At the moment we are house hacking in our Duplex, once we move out we plan on creating an LLC. I hear it can be a lengthy process to transfer a property that is currently under your personal name to an LLC. Do you happen to know much about the process at all?

@Collin Rush I don't mean to hijack your post :D

@Carl S. That's fantastic, I just met with a fellow Saffa investor in Charlotte, NC over the weekend. So I decided to try reach out over here on BP and see if there are more who I could connect with. Are you currently investing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area? I have visited a few times and have enjoyed my time there.

@Steve Stuart I agree.  We are looking at something either in the Western Cape, Cape Town, Durban North or Ramsgate (Close to family) What areas are you looking in?

@Stewart Van Wyk Welcome to BP! That's awesome that you get to travel to the US so often. We have just started our investing journey in the last year, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. Are you looking to invest in Texas or are you open to other markets?

Hello, I'm looking to connect with fellow Saffa's on BP.

I was born in Pretoria, went to school in Pietermaritzburg and the South Coast until I moved over to the States. My husband and I are looking at possibly purchasing a short term rental in South Africa. We try and visit once a year as most of my family still lives there. We are currently investing in the states, but, looking to expand.

I would love to connect, whether you live and invest in SA or the States. Let's have a braai and chat about your experiences and real estate journey.

@Willem Botha Wow R200k for all of that! I've been looking at some properties in SA for a possible short term rental. I can't believe how prices have raised since I was last there.

@Jinwon H. I know this post was from last year, I wanted to follow up and see who you decided to go with to replace your unit. I have a duplex in Lillington NC that I self manage. The HVAC on the one side is still the original HVAC (20 years old) By some miracle it is still working, however, I know it won't last too much longer so I am trying to be proactive and get quotes on a replacement. Could you please share who you decided to use?

@Mike McCarthy Thank you for the info, totally makes sense to go with a local company then.

@Josue Vargas I'm most certainly looking at quartz or granite since we have so little countertop space, also wanting to get the most maintenance-free material.

@Justin Tahilramani Thank you, I'll check them out

Where's the best place to purchase countertops from at a good price? Local vendors or Lowes, HD, etc? I have been purchasing most of our reno supplies from Lowes since we get military discount and cash back through Ibotta. I am looking in the Lillington, Fuquay-Varina, Apex, Raliegh, Fayetteville area. Thanks!

@Terrell Garren That was what we were originally going to do, I was just worried about the upkeep of painted countertops. How have yours held up? I am thinking of granite for the kitchen since there's not much and then paint bathroom countertops with good quality countertop paint.

@Michael King Kitchen looks great! We are pretty handy and do most of the work ourselves, however, we haven't worked with granite before. I see Lowes and HD prices include installation, thinking of going that route, and then watching as they install to learn for the next. Otherwise there is the university of YouTube but I'd hate to have to waste a slab of granite because I didn't know what I was doing.
