I live in Santa Fe, NM, and while it's a great market for STR, the cost of entry is going to be the biggest challenge.

The median home price is over $500K. The city also has a lot of restrictions on STR rentals.
I would recommend looking in other areas.

@Matthew I. The market has changed quite a bit in the last 4 years. There are still opportunities in Abq, but you need to think about entering a market with a tight supply of houses. Finding deals that cashflow is more challenging. Running an STR remotely is also challenging for sure.
