My in-laws wish to add me and my husband to their title. We all live together and they wish to convey ownership to us so I can get a home improvement loan to do some much needed repairs to the house. How would I go about getting in the title? Can we just go to the district clerks office and file or do we have to go thru a title company? We are in Harris County (Houston Texas). If we do have to go thru a title company, would someone recommend a company in my area?

Anyone have a good, reliable service or strategy for getting lists of pre-foreclosures in the Houston area? I googled it and came up with foreclosurehouston.com. Does anyone use this service?

Bryant Schur thank you for taking time to help people. I have a question about getting money to rehab a property. Do you need to have the money in your pocket to rehab or can you wrap that into a loan?

I am a newbie and I have started to go out and look at properties and analyzing them as well as others on the MLS. Houston is such a huge city with so many different pockets of neighborhoods, I am not sure how to pinpoint an area. I have lived in many different parts of the city and I know many different areas of town. Any advice as to how to hone in on an area? Any advice would be appreciated.
I live just west of Meyerland and have the same question. I do know that the city now has the funds to finish dredging the bayou. I have always loved this part of town and am familiar with it. I want to invest here too but am too new to make an educated decision.
