I am 25. I’m in the process of starting a business (Cafe) but I also want to invest in Real Estate. If you were me, what would you pursue first. I have the funds to do one but not both.  I can use the capital to start the business, or use it for a down payment for a property. Any advice on this?

Thanks guys!! We have noticed a lot of people are switching to LED lighting and are improving their walls R-Value. Would like to see more people installing solar PV and  Solar or GEO-thermal heating and cooling.

Hello everyone, I am excited to join Bigger Pockets, if read (Set For Life, How to Invest in Real Estate, The Book on Managing Rental Properties, and The Book on Investing in Real Estate,) they are all great books and if you haven't read them (you should).

I'm 22 years of age with no REI experience, I live in Vegreville Alberta, and I work for a building supply company. I always had an interest in real estate (particularly Real Estate Development). I like the idea of turning raw land into shopping centres, office buildings, and multi-family buildings. I think developing NET Zero Energy Projects is the best and only way to go for better air quality, healthier living, and a more vibrant and modern community. I also believe investing in the market you live in is the smartest way. This way you can be close to your properties.

I would look around at other rentals in the area and see if they allow pets, another thing to consider is what materials are in the house, example flooring, is their carpet or laminate where the costs of cleaning or replacing them worth it.

My personal preference is to not allow pets, for depreciation and repair costs.

Thank you for the input! I just know it's hard to get funding for larger projects with no experience. So I'm hoping that building a portfolio on smaller projects will eventually get me to develop bigger ones, Best of luck to you as well: Jeffrey

I want to get into commercial real estate development in the future, and develop large projects like (Retail centers, Office Buildings, Apartment/ Condominium complex's), for someone without a background in real estate, how would I get to that level?

Would developing small multifamily houses like duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes be a good starting point?
