I came to Bigger Pockets to be able to learn about real estate investing and to learn to do it the ethical way. One way the Bigger Pockets guys suggest we learn is through using the forums to get the help we need from other investors and that includes wholesalers. It’s a shame when someone goes on a forum to get answers and instead the get called a crook.

The wholesalers are being called crooks because they do not have a license but, a license doesn’t make someone ethical and that’s what we need in whatever field we decide to work in as an investor. We all need to be honest and get our clients the most help they can get and, in the process, make money to grow our businesses. A license doesn’t mean you are going to be the best answer for a client and it doesn’t mean you will in some way be the one who helps out a client in their time of need.

Two years ago, I went through a divorce and we decided to sell our house and after our licensed realtor got finished splitting up their commissions, we received a whopping $120.00. If I knew then what I know now, I would have been grateful to meet a wholesaler that would have offered me more cash in my hand and see someone buy the house, fix and flip it.

Before you go and assume everyone with a license is ethical and everyone without is not, get the facts from each individual person and then determine who they are as an investor, real estate agent etc.

@Brittany Witt, I hope you received the help you needed from the ones who actually wanted to help you and don’t be discouraged from the ones who definitely jumped to the conclusion that you are some kind of Scammer!!

@Tyler Gibson Have you looked this up on YouTube? You should subscribe to the bigger pockets channel and it is there.

 @Jim K

Thank you for helping out and i am about to go into information overload it seems. Every comment i get is greatly appreciated. I definitely will choose to invest locally for quite sometime until i get more confidant in what I am trying to accomplish. I know this will payoff in the future and i am excited to get started. I do intend to try to find a mentor in my area to help out and i think this will be worth while in the beginning to develop the skills i will need in the future.

Okay folks, I am new and still trying to learn as much as i can before jumping into Wholesaling. I constantly read about determining your market. I hate to sound stupid but, what exactly does this mean?

@Michael Ablan I use to setup mobile homes and the best thing to do keep them insulated and use a heat tape also. Most of the time if you can prevent the cold air from getting to the pipes then they are less likely to freeze.

@Jimmy O'Connor I am definitely not looking to make a quick buck but, i am highly interested in getting started in wholesaling and doing things the correct way. To find buyers and sellers that i can put together a deal that can benefit all parties involved. I have always tried to work hard and be an honest person with anything do. I would like to look into getting my real estate license at some point if i see it will benefit my career but, my main focus is learning investing. Thank you for the advice.

@Jeremy Aldridge that would be awesome and I would definitely like to get more information on dates and times to join your meeting in Kannopolis. I am supposed to go talk to a real estate company about getting license but, I’m not sure this is the right time. My major goal is to become an investor.

Thank you JD Gunter for your reply. I am brand new the real estate investing and the biggest reason i am interested in wholesaling is mainly because of the amount of money required to get started from what i am seeing. I am currently looking into getting my real estate license in North Carolina and hopefully this will increase my knowledge of real estate and which direction i need to proceed.
