Michael, I think where people may think you are in violation, has nothing to do with the things you mentioned.

Did you know you can't just start a real estate company by completing paperwork and passing the RE exam.  You need to have a broker's license in order to operate a real estate company, that's not just in Hawaii that's across the US.

You'll need to have all the required CE courses completed and have at least 2 years full time RE experience, signed off by your previous broker.

Good luck and share the aloha.

@Matt Smith - what area are would you like to own in?  We have vacation rentals with lock-off feature in a few of our complexes here.

Let me know if you would like a couple of examples.

Aloha,

Jeff

Brian, having lived on Maui for 11  years I'm a little biased and would say you are making the right choice. Each island is very different and has its advantages and disadvantages.

If you need property information don't hesitate to contact me.

Aloha,

Jeff

A meetup on Maui would be great, I'm in. I'll be off island for the next two weeks though.  I live in Kihei and can help come up with a location in South Maui for a once a month meeting, if there's one in Wailuku too.

if you have a broker's license from another state you are still required to take any additional course Hawaii may require and take the state portion of the broker's exam.

Aloha
