Hello, My name is Joe and I live in Canton MI. My wife and I are new to real estate investing. We bought our first property which was an duplex in 2012 where we lived in one side and rented the other (which I recently learned is called "House Hacking" from the BP pod cast... Love the show BTW).

With the new year upon us, I wanted to reach out to the community to get some recommendations on finding a tax person. We made some moves in 2014 and we want to make sure to capture all deductions and file taxes accurately. Here are some of the details: We remodeled the bathroom, extended driveway, and put in a patio (all of this was done on our side of the property in the idea that it would help rent it out in the future). We then moved out and bought a SFR residence in Sept and now are renting both units of the duplex.

I normally prepare my own taxes but this year's seems a little over my head. I do have a finance background. Would anyone recommend that I do the research and file on my own??
