Before we partnered with a Realtor, these are the sites we were (and still are) using:

Hope that helps.

Here's a fun one. I was showing a house I had for lease when the guy attempted to use the gas stove to light a cigarette. His excuse was that he was "seeing if the gas line worked." I told him to get out of my house asap.

Welcome @Jacqueline Jordan and glad to see another investor in the League City/Clear Lake area!!! I echo the bias about the RICH Club as well as the Bigger Pockets podcasts. One of my favourites is the second podcast, discussing subject to's, direct mail, and unique aspects of being a woman investing in real estate. Since I'm the only guy in our family business, that one spoke to me.

Hi @Lawrence Cox III and welcome!!! I'm also on your side of town; mostly Webster area but I work out of Baytown as well. I echo the same when it comes to how great the network is here on Bigger Pockets. @Belinda Lopez mentioned the RICH Club. So far, I've been to one of their meetings, met with a several people who are members at various socials, so it's a great network as well. I'm looking forward to signing up at the next event.

Happy networking,

Japheth

I attended a "workshop" a few months ago when they came to Houston. It was amazing how fast people were ready to sign up for the so-called mastery program. They really didn't cover anything I hadn't known before. I would say there was about three hours of okayish info spread over two and a half days. The last half of the third day was nothing but trying to make people feel bad for not signing up.

If anything, I learned what junk they were spewing as well as their version of shop-talk (which really was not too different than what you'd hear in a high school locker room). Now that I know what to listen for when I'm working with other investors, I know to politely run in the opposite direction when I hear it.

Thanks for the feedback, @Eric Black . I didn't think about recording the call so that's something I'll be doing. These past few days, I've been going over the questions but still trying to relax. Though I'm tempted to kind of stare at the phone in anticipation, I realise that just creates more anxiety so I'm just focusing on getting more marketing organised.

Well folks, we took the first action step in starting up our REI family business. @Kristi Moore and I started sending out our mailers yesterday and will be sending more today. For now, we're looking to wholesale properties but plan on securing some holds in the process to get that passive income going.

Any pointers for when we receive the first call?

I'm not going to be one of those who doesn't use what I purchase. The reasoning behind purchasing a home study course is so my business team can have a resource to learn from as we're starting up. I went ahead and ordered the course. I'll post our experience with it once we've had a chance to view it.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!!
