Welcome to BP. I lived in Orlando for several years right before the big '08 burst. I remember being new construction left and right, and prices being much better than South Florida. I would love to hear how the rental market is doing now there.

I think I was renting a home there (with several friends) for about $1500/mth back then.

Hello BP Members,

While I am sure many of us can go into great detail on our back story that led us to the world of Real Estate Investing, I don’t really want to type out a memoir at the moment. Instead, I will just give you a simple biography.

I am Joe Perez, and I am lucky enough to have a steady and “safe” J-O-B along with a wife who is in the same boat. Not kids at the moment, and we are  good savers with very little debt (School loans under $6k) and credit cards are pretty much paid off each month. Young wife (early 20s) and myself young at heart (32, still young in my opinion), we are able to take a few risk in our financial future. I read Rich Dad Poor Dad 10 years ago, but little action was taken.

I am hoping to take charge of our future, and hopefully invest in several buy & hold properties, and rent out for a slow and steady cash flow. We are also looking to buy our primary residence in the next few months.

I am not looking to quit my day job for at least 6 years, at which point I plan on having several multi-family properties.

We live in Broward, and both work in Miami-Dade. I lived in the same area most of my life, but feel the area near Brickell/Downtown Miami is a good place to start looking for investment opportunities. Perhaps a few blocks out of the area.

I’ll close this up with my extensive knowledge I have in real estate investment;

I heard about 15 podcasts and listened (audiobook) to 3 books on the subject of real estate.

I read Brandon Turner’s book on Rental Property investing as well.

I also stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last year.

That’s about it. What I looking forward to is gaining for knowledge the next 3 months, joining some local clubs, and building on my networking opportunities through my current job. By next weekend (wisdom teeth surgery this weekend!) I will have a mapped out plan for the next three years.

Hope to learn and communicate through some of you in the coming days, months, and years.

Thank you!
