Good morning all, can you all offer tips on how you have found your mentors? I want to ultimately work along and side by side with someone who can teach me the ins and out of New York investing. Where and how would I find someone who would let me tag along and learn the things that they do? P.S. I am currently a real estate associate mainly working in Brooklyn..

Brandon L. He already has 300 properties and has explained to me what he's looking for, thank you so much for your response! I'm already on the buyers agreement!

I'll be finding him off market deals in all five boroughs and be representing him.

Good morning all! I recently had an investor contact me and asked if I can work with him, he found my business card on a home (I'm a real estate agent in the Brooklyn area) I think it's a great opportunity and I definitely won't mind working with him but how do I make sure he will pay me for my services? Should I make him sign an NDA? If not an NDA what type of agreement should we have and how do I bring that up? Please help, I want to get back to him by tonight. Thanks!

Hi Inahya,

First I would like to say always remain true to who you are and don't let the actions of others change you.   I know Brooklyn as I grew up there and have worked in Brooklyn as well. That being said here are a few tips:

1. Take lots of training if your office offers it.  Free is preferable no need to pay.  Save paying for training until later.

2. Role Play as much as possible with someone you are comfortable with.  Preferably a seasoned agent who is doing well.  This will help you know what to say in different situations so that you will feel more confident and will speak up (if this is what you mean by aggressive).  You will also learn what they do to gain leads and clients.

3. Mike Ferry has some good free advice on youtube.  He has a confident straight forward approach. Gain confidence through knowledge.  Once you gain the confidence in knowing your craft you will be able to speak up when an opportunity comes around.

Ensure that your approach comes natural to you and you will do fine.  I hope this helps some.  Feel free to contact me anytime if you need advice.

Thank you so much for the your response, Athena.  Gaining confidence through knowledge and my craft literally hasn't even crossed my mind!

I'll definitely be learning the market and areas ASAP also role playing.
