Hello Nate,

Welcome to the community. I'm in Olympia, and attended the Olympia REI meet up in the past. It was helpful to connect with people. If you got some time it might be a worth to try.

@Ned Carey Thank you! I really enjoy working with seniors. They fascinate me w/ their life stories. I'm telling you the history from people who lived it is more interesting than any history book for me. Hopefully, I can grow in that market and help them to enjoy their lives.

@Shawn Ackerman Thanks for the greeting and encouraging message. I'm so glad I found this community, and am learn tons since the first day I joined. I will contact you if I have any questions. Thanks for the kind offer!

@Cj Juan Thank you for the encouraging message. Yes, ever since I started work in this filed, I noticed the same thing as well. Moreover, generally when the modified items are installed, installers don't factor in biomechanics. Usually, without the correct mechanics, people have a greater chance to develop some sort of issues. So, I cannot wait to learn about the other side of the equation; clinical side + real estate knowledge including construction = best modified home environment for its users.

Hello everyone,

I'm Dean from Olympia, WA. I currently work as an occupational therapist at a skilled nursing facility. As a clinician who works with seniors, I see a lot of people wish to return to their residence after they are discharged from the facility. As a precautionary measure, I do something called Home safety evaluation, which is clinicians utilize their knowledge on home environment safety to identify safety hazards in one's residence in order to maintain the quality life in their own environment. My passion is modifying residential places for senior, so they can prolong their life in their own environment, and eventually develop my own senior residential complex. However, I have zero experience in the field and have tons of learning to do understand the field. While I was searing the web for planning my next step, I found this website. Hopefully, I learn and grow in this community and share my happy story in the future.
