Hey Shawm - thanks for the comment! We are a subscription based company, focused on tax strategy (and accounting) which very often includes our suggestions on entity structuring from a tax point of view.

Re out of state, this is fine.  If you are forming a syndicate, you need a syndication attorney. If you are just investing as an LP, you can find a business attorney to review a PPM, but I'm not sure that is enough work for them to be honest and it might be a long wait.

RE SDIRA - this should be handled by your custodian.  If you need a good one, we prefer Horizon Trust out of Nevada.

Quote from @Brooklyn McCarty:

Great question for your cpa!

My CPA says there is no such thing as STR tax incentive! :D Need to start another thread to find a CPA who knows how to handle this s***!

Gordon - he/she may be getting confused as there is no "listed incentive".  The strategy does work and they need to read the 1.469 Regs to start the research on this.

@Johnny Hawkins it is not. Customer service is extremely important. We will by the 48 hour rule. If you can’t respond in 48 hours then you are likely over capacity.

@Michael A. You cannot by suspended losses from an S Corp. why? Because they are suspended at the personal level and not S Corp level. Ask your account for the “Reg Section” or relevant literature.

@Chris Seveney non responses is not excusable in my opinion. We have a 48 hr rule which our team lives by and its not hard to respond!

With LPs we usually default to telling them late summer. The artificial pressure will mount otherwise!

@Brendan Fucci check out the forums for lists (there are tons of threads esp for virtual firms) and there is also a small directory (not sure how that works). Now is the time to find a new strategist vs waiting until the Fall!

@Buddy Holmes this is a Turbo issue most likely. Passive activity gains are offset by passive losses by law. Id call their support.
