@Dillon Loomis, I think a great strategy for me would be multi-family buy and hold. I've been analyzing some deals by looking at multi-families and trying to get better at running the numbers. What's your strategy? Where are you at in your real estate journey?

@Justin Grubbs, I just wanted to connect with you. I'm from Union City, don't hold that against me! haha. I had a friend who lived in Girard when I was in high school. A year has gone by, have you made some good local connections? More importantly, have you bought an investment property? I'm just getting started and have so much to learn by reading and from others. I hope to invest in Erie in the next year. I'm paying down my student loans and saving cash.

Hi @Justin Russell How have you been? Have you purchased something in the last year? What have you learned? I just started my journey in real estate so I'm trying to figure all this stuff out. I grew up in this area and know it well. The winters can be brutal. I'm happy to help in anyway that I can. Working together we can accomplish more.

@Justin C. I love the idea of working together on something. Warning: I'm new, but seriously putting time and energy into learning everything about real estate investing. I grew up in this area and so I know it well. I moved away for school and education, but now I'm back in Northwest, PA. I hope you have had great success as this post is a year old. I just started to plug into this Bigger Pockets community. Hope to hear from you and add value to your efforts.

Hi @Christopher Elliott It's nice to make your acquaintance. I'm sure as a CPA you bring a wealth of knowledge to the community. I haven't bought my first property yet, but I'm like you and spending my time learning, paying down student loans, and saving money.

@Michael T. I have lots of questions about what properties are like across different neighborhoods in here. I've noticed around the 26th St/Parade St area there are a number of properties in distress. Crime rates in that area also appear higher there as well. Could those be good investment opportunities? I'd like to pick your brain as I get started.

I wish I could join the NW PA Apt Assoc to learn about buying my first rental from more experienced investors. I think it's kind of a silly requirement to own a rental, before allowing new members. I guess it keeps out the riffraff. But, it's a major hurdle for inexperienced investors to overcome in order to join the Association. It's nice that there is Bigger Pockets to go to, in this situation for advice.

Good to know that Northwest and Marquette have been good to the investors in Northwest PA. When I look for financing my first property, I'll be sure to contact them. First I need to start analyzing some deals.

I'm jumping in on this thread too, because I just joined bigger pockets and I'm from the area. I plan on investing in Erie County, PA to start. I'm in stage one of learning about real estate investing so I don't do something dumb.  @Daniel Mohnkern, let me take out for coffee sometime. I'd love to talk and hear your thoughts about the local area.
