Good evening everyone after years of wanting to pursue real estate as an investment vehicle I'm finally in a position to do so. My journey began in 2014 shortly after joining the military when I stumbled upon BiggerPockets. I've listened to every podcast twice, run countless mock analyses, and almost entered into a 3 way partnership between other service members to purchase a REO.

4 years later and I have yet to do my first deal. That’s okay just more time to research and prepare. Now I’m married and out of the service and have a nice nest egg to start my journey with.

So I’m calling all Atlanta real estate professionals if you have any colleagues with a deal you can recommend please let me know.

I’m looking for multifamily properties in east and north Atlanta area. Preferably minimal work needed maybe just some updates or streamlining on the business side. Ideally it would be a C property in a B neighborhood or vice versa. However I’m not opposed to other deals. I really love unique deals such as maybe a four plex with mixed zoning on a good size lot with room for additional units. Not opposed to any deals. Price is relative to the property but preferably under 300K.

Any tips are words or wisdom are appreciated.

I'm an nco E-4 and have a good reputation (MoQ, Meritorious corporal, cert comms). I wonder if that would come into play. I could save but I was just wondering so I could maximize the tax benefits and steady paycheck. However I'm comfortable just reading the blog, forums, and books. Just curious thanks sir.

Hello everyone,

Has any single as in non-married service member successfully been able to invest in real estate while enlisted or commissioned. I understand the moving and work but, lets pretend you were sedentary. I primarily ask this because of the restrictions to living off base. In addition if anyone with experience could weigh in on whether a command would go for a sound business plan for real estate investing (like house hacking).

Hello @Lydia S.

Thanks for responding! Well I think I'm still a couple years from actually investing but I've been reading everything I can so far and from the very general picture I've been able to get real estate seems like the way to go for me. Turns out my good friend has family with years of experience in real estate investing! I never knew! It's amazing how just casually bringing up the topic can do. Now there's a strong possibility of becoming partners and having his family mentors us.

I may be starting young but I think you have much more knowledge and experience. I assume it's going to be considerably easier for you to get financing, or work with established businesses. I hope people can take a young twenty-something seriously. I know I'm taking real estate pretty seriously.

Hello @Trexie E.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Making my way through the Guide now. I have no idea what sort of investing I want to do but, I feel as though the more I learn the more accurately I'll be able to decide what fits me best. I'll definitely sign up for this coming webinar. Thanks again!

Basically as it says above I'm 21 and got serious about my finances about a year ago. I'm hoping that by starting early I can achieve financial independence sooner rather than later. I realize its a journey so I'm just here to spectate and absorb all the knowledge I can while I save enough to take the plunge. Lots of questions lots of curiosity I don't know where to start. Hopefully here; so my first question is: Where did the capital for your first investment come from and could you tell me about the steps you took to get it. Thank you so much, so excited to start learning.
