I was glad that there was an avenue to contribute, and he really didn't ask. As someone said, many of us are emotionally attached with this issue. I live in California, and I genuinely believe that our legal systems here, esp. wrt tenant-landlord matters, are very broken. I have evicted people in Pennsylvania, and it is a very different matter there.

If you look at the amount that has been raised on his behalf, it really is not much at all. To me it's more of a solidarity gesture, a pat on the back, encouragement for him to keep going.

@Joshua Dorkin and @Brandon Turner, can we make this thread sticky please?

Bob E, thank you very much for organizing this. I appreciate it.

Let's tell our friends, and increase the exposure for this story and the campaign. Will, Is it possible to have the working link on the first post of this thread too?  Also, let's quote the link from page to page so that it's not buried by people's posts.

@Will Barnard If you open a kickstarter and/or change.org campaigns, I would make do what I can to promote it in my circle, and with my friends at San Jose Biggerpockets meetup as well. And I am sure that many would do the same in their own circles.

By the way, how's the other guy afford their own legal fees? I guess instead of paying rents or mortgages, they pay attorney fees.

I know that this is not a very fresh thread, but this is a very refreshing episode. Thanks @Mike D'Arrigo and @Jay Hinrichs!

I am still waiting for Jay's episode on BP Podcast. Not sure why it takes so long!!

I am also doing a long-distance investing in Central  PA. The Harrisburg-Carlile MSA seems to be improving lately from the long slump caused by the great recession and poor local governance. Recent unemployment number is around 4%, below national average: http://www.bls.gov/regions/mid-atlantic/pa_harrisb...

Property tax is a bit high(school tax), but there seems to be some reformation in the works.

Eviction process is not too difficult, you should be able to get possession in about a month.

The city itself has a lot of undesirable neighborhoods, and bad school districts. Find better locations outside the inner city, or in the other boroughs nearby. Also I'd suggest that you avoid the bottom of the barrel (~15k/unit).

I am an ex Lehman customer, and I walked away from them. My current PM does a much better job, however he doesn't accept new clients because of health reasons. In fact, I am looking for a new one :(

Glad that I check back at this thread. Otherwise, I would have gone to the Whispers Cafe this evening to hear the whispers of no one.

Johnson, thanks for organizing this again. See you guys tonight.
