@Ralph Soles Will do! I really appreciate all your help!!!

Funny story actually.... I was showing the house this weekend to potential renters and as soon as they pulled up, the transformer behind my house exploded! It sounded like a gun shot!

I called the electric company and I guess a neighbor had already reported it since it had affected more than my house.

Worst first impression EVER!!!

Anyway...I was hoping the noise would be gone after that explosion but nope...still there.

I think the noise is a vibration from the wires and the wires are attached to my house with metal hinges. When the wire moves it causes the metal vibrate on my wood siding causing the noise. I just gotta figure out how to make it stop vibrating...

Well it's louder when you're standing outside so we are now pretty sure it's coming from the wires connected to the house. We are hoping the noise will go away after we trim down any trees touching the wires.

Also...if one of these lines is a phone line..I'm hoping to take that down too since nobody really uses phone lines anymore these days..

Hopefully these two changes will fix it.

@Ana Nomys

You're awesome!! Now THIS is why I love the BP community :)

There's NO chance it can be bees. It's a LOUD random vibration...not a sound that any bug could make. It sounds more like if you were to leave your phone on a hard table and it started to vibrate. It's a loud deep vibration that's sporadic.

That's a funny story about the cell phone in the gutter! I wish it was that simple. This noise has been going on for over a month so there's no way it's a dying device.

I can hear it really well outside. I don't know exactly where the noise is coming from but my guess would be that it's the loudest up where the wires meet the house.

Maybe the wires are moving and are vibrating against the metal clasps on the wood siding to make the terribly loud vibration noises? That's what we're guessing at this point.

I will get to the bottom of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Account Closed Yes, power was completely off before we bought the place and it was still happening.

You can definitely hear it outside near the power lines coming into the house even when the power is off.

@Rick Bradd We had the water turned off from the main up until this past weekend...it was still happening with it off.

Here are some pics of what's on the outside wall where the noise is.

yeah it's even louder in person. I would not be able to sleep in the room with the noise.

@Brandon Turner, that's one heck of a battery life ;)

I called the electric company. They are coming to look at the electric lines that are coming into the house near the area of the sound.

@Steve Babiak

No upstairs. No high return vents. We had all systems off and the noise was still occurring. So strange.

Thanks @Joel Owens

@Steve Babiak It's central air with the registers on the floor.

This is an odd question but maybe someone can help. I just bought a new rental house and found out there is a very loud vibration noise coming from the wall. It will vibrate really loud in the house and I can't imagine my renters not complaining about it especially when sleeping in that room where it's the loudest. I want to fix the issue before I get renters in it.

It's on the back wall of the house which the electrical box and wiring also sit.

There's no pattern of buzzes but usually it will hum several times and will come and go. Here's a video.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
