Thanks @Account Closed, would love to connect once you move here. Looks like you are at P&G? My brother in-law works there as a Sales Manager with Baby Care. Great company.

Yes, would love to connect once you move into town. And yes, we will definitely be looking for people to contribute. We are getting a pretty firm grasp on our mission and vision for the company - and a big part of that is our love for the city here, a desire to impact our children and future generations, and let other Cincinnati residents come along side and participate in that vision.

Hi Everyone!

I've been on BP for a few months now, but had yet to write a New Member Introduction.

My wife and I kind of stumbled into real estate investing back in 2011. We had our first son, and were trying to supplement income from my wife's part time job. We ended up listing our home on VRBO (before the AirBNB days), and it rented out all summer. That blew me away because I thought, who comes to Cincinnati for vacation? Turns out, there was a growing demand for people who prefer to stay in homes rather than hotels.

In the next few years, we bought a duplex in Fort Thomas, KY and house hacked. We then bought a property in Newport, KY and fully rehabbed a 3 story, 5 bedroom / 5 bath home, so that we could use it as a vacation rental full time. Only problem? The city's code did not have a category for vacation rentals ... long story short ... after operating for about a year (and our guests LOVED it), we had to shut it down, and we ended up selling the property. TONS of lessons learned here.

Since 2011, real estate has been part time for me, and I've been a full time Internet Marketer, which I enjoy. I worked for a local startup from 2013-2015, and loved helping them get off the ground, grow their user base and acquire funding. After that, I reached out to the Real Estate Guys Radio (who I had been a fan of for years), and helped with their marketing efforts for about a  year. Great learning experience for me.

In the last year, I've realized the real estate bug has bit me hard, and I am in the process of transitioning from Internet Marketing into full time Real Estate Investing (though, I plan to use my past experience for years to come).

I'm partnering with a friend here in the Cincinnati area who has about 20 years Development experience. Eventually, we plan to help revitalize Cincinnati neighborhoods by working to create greater density in some overlooked, but now rising walkable neighborhoods. In the mean time, we are flipping single family homes in the area.

Love this community and all of the opportunities it represents. Also, from a UX perspective, happy to see them asking members how to improve the site.

Oh, and feel free to throw out your Bengals hate, pity, scorn, whatever _______ here. Whodey.

Hi @Thomas Barrick

Congratulations on the duplex purchase! I think that is a fantastic way to get started, and I did the same thing with my second investment property. Nothing like your 2 year old sleeping in the closet. :)

Wish you the best as you keep investing in Cincinnati.

Agree with @James Wise and @Benjamin Blackburn that in addition to Following and Followers, Colleagues is what makes this confusing. I would simplify as well because right now, I don't know the difference between Following and Colleague.

And then as @Chris Low said, it would be good to have some kind of feed/notifications for activity for who you are following.

When you compress the two, to help with the glut of notifications, create settings for everyone you are following where you can choose what kind of activity you want to be notified about from that person.

Hi @Account Closed,

Welcome to Cincinnati (soon)!

While a lot of money has been poured into OTR, the city is looking to invest in the neighborhoods from downtown out - see here. So, neighborhoods like Walnut Hills, Madisonville, or Evanston may be good places to house hack.

Also, don't overlook the Kentucky side of the river. You may want to take a look at Bellevue, Newport and Covington. All could offer house hacking potential (though, can be tough to acquire in Bellevue right now), and also give you that short commute to downtown.

@Brian Mello - you may have this figured out already, but it sounds like you want two websites built that you control the domain and can help build your brand. I would steer away from any free hosting websites, as you will only have a sub-domain, and it looks unprofessional.

I help create websites for real estate investors using Wordpress and responsive themes (optimized for mobile), and my primary experience, beyond being a real estate investor, is with Internet Marketing - Branding, SEO, Content, etc.

Two of my recent clients are in the assisted living space -

Happy to discuss more.
