Post: Fix HVAC System or install a/c units?

Hi everyone, so a bit of a backstory on the property. It is an old two-story house just outside of Palmdale, Ca. and was abandoned for a few years before being bought.

The house had a central a/c system, but it does not work anymore.

So my question is, with the property being turned into an STR (first one), which option seems best?

Should I repair the old central A/C system? Or should I just install individual a/c units in the rooms?

I should note that it tends to get very hot during the summers.

More info on the property:4000 sqft 4bdr/3bth, large living room

thank you!

I currently live in California but my mom is living in Texas and she wants to rent out her single family home. I thought I could help her out by setting her up with a really good property manager. Any good recommendations for a property management company in the San Antonio area?

Hey, bp community! I have a question about conventional loans. When applying for a loan, do I have to be very specific about the area I want to invest in? Such as zip code? Or once I am approved would I be able to make offers anywhere across the state or even out of state?

Hey BiggerPockets community, hope everyone is doing well!

I was wondering if anyone here has had any success investing in multi families in the southern Los Angeles County area (Bellflower, Norwalk, Long Beach, Whittier, Lakewood etc..).

I'm looking to Househack a duplex and am trying to get a better idea of which areas are best for that particular strategy and maybe hoping to get some advice from experienced investors in the area.

Thanks!

@Jon Schwartz Thank you for the tips! Super helpful for future analysis. I ran the new numbers and it cash flows about $48 less than my original analysis. https://www.biggerpockets.com/...

@Charles Cooper This is near Sepulveda and the 213 highway. According to rent prices posted online about the property, it went for 1475 a unit.
