@Arlen Chou yes the Oakland housing laws are absurd! What is the worst case scenario? Paying for moving expenses & possible The tenant doesn’t pay rent for 6 months before eviction? Many thanks for the RAP advice

@Stephen G. Thank you for the response! I’ve heard of paying moving expenses, which I can weather, I believe worst case scenario is tenant stays without paying for 6 months before evicting hope it doesn’t come to that but I can weather that with reserves on hand.

Hello Bigger pockets! I have a a situation on my hands that I do not have any experience in & looking for sound advice from the amazing BP community. I have a rental property that Is currently leased on a month to month basis that I used to live in but have since moved out. There is going to be some changes in my living conditions and I wanted to move back into the property the is currently leased. Knowing that Oakland has very strict housing laws I am wondering what my options are before I consult an attorney so I can have a better understanding of the situation. Any advice is much appreciated!

@Nathan Gesner You are right, we've been far too lenient with the tenant. Car was last registered 2010, time is up. Thanks for the advice

@Tim M. Will do thanks for the input.

@Tim M.  Thanks for the input! I heard there was a city ordinance of keeping abandoned vehicles in properties & wanted to check in with the community. I'll DM you to get that info

@Nathan Gesner Thank you for the advice, this vehicle definitely isn't worth the trouble, but was interested of options we have. What if the tenant is hard headed and resists towing the vehicle? I'm worried if they move out well have the deal with the vehicle.

Hello I am currently helping my father manage his property here in Oakland California, I would like to know what other local landlords have learned about the cities landlord and tenant laws. We have a tenant with a abandoned car in the rear of the unit I am wondering if we can do anything about the situation? We plan on inspecting the property tomorrow and keeping the unit in good shape, replacing smoke detectors and adding a carbon monoxide detector, along with possible window upgrades and repaving the steps to keep the property safe for our tenants. If any landlord here in the local area has any advice about what to watch out for, or just advice would be greatly appreciated.
