@Timothy Moore Hi Tim, I’m a newer agent/ investor here in Metro Detroit. I grew up here before I went the corporate route out of state in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City. Now I’m back home looking to build a long term foundation in real estate here. I would definitely like to stay connected as I will be in need of property management services here soon.

Do you offer property management services to Macomb county as well or are you strictly Oakland and Wayne?

If your realtor doesn’t work much with investors, they could dislike sending in offers that have little chance of being accepted, as they could receive some blow back from the listing agent. Agents who work with investors understand this is all apart of the game, and mange agent to agent relationships accordingly.

My advice would be to address your displeasure with your agent, and explain to her what your goals are, and if you don’t align find you another agent in the BP directory, who works with investors.

I like it, I also like the approach of trying to be their buyers agent for their next house, rather than trying to get the listing as well.

Inevitably when it is time to call a realtor to list, they will want to go with the guy who offered to help them for free, and they will work with to purchase their next home.

Hey Lennon- I completed my Licensing class   last month, so I know just where your at. The biggest things for me were flexibility, and training. I needed to be flexible because I am transitioning from out of state, and training because I’m a brand new agent. I found the best fit with eXp for my situation.

So you will need to figure out what are the most important things to you when interviewing with brokerages. If it’s about the split percentage, hands on training, virtual training, fees, mentorship or programs. [Solicitation Removed by Moderators]

@Jonathan Postema

I'm somewhat in the same boat as you. I am a brand new real estate agent in Metro Detroit, and plan on buying my first investment property within the year as well. So far my favorite read has been BRRRR by David Greene. It's helped me narrow my focus to SFH 2-4 units or large SFH in areas where I can house hack by the room. Good luck, and let's keep in touch.
