Picking a Brokerage to work for? Things to consider.

Lennon Turner

Hi All,

I'm taking Real Estate classes in Michigan and I was informed that in order to get my license, I must work for a broker. What things should I take into consideration when picking a brokerage to work for? any advice or tips from you all about what to do?

Nothing you are learning for your pre-license education is any good, for the most part.

So step 1 is to learn your job. Hang your license with whomever you feel will offer the best training and support during that first few years. Avoid anyone that's just going to "train" you to be dependent on them for business, you want to be self-starting as much as possible as soon as possible.

Once you are up and running and no longer need that support, at that point work on optimizing the broker split.
