@Joel Owens Those are good.. and the Piggy chips are even better.

If you ever make it out here, I'll buy you an order ^^

Thanks for the comments and encouragement.

Hi BP members...

Anyone living out in Seoul, Korea, or plan on being in the area on Dec 6?

If so, fellow BP Members @John Van Uytven @Benjamin Hauser and I would like to invite you to attend our 2nd Seoul Real Estate Investing Meetup that started through BiggerPockets!

(Our group got a nice mention from @Joshua Dorkin in his 10 Year Anniversary Blog Post.)

We're planning on meeting in Gangnam near the Kyobo Bookstore at a TOZ meeting room.

As per BiggerPockets ethos, we are meeting together to support, motivate, educate, collaborate, and learn from each other. No sales pitches ^^

At our last meeting, we had Korean investors, US investors, and even one Hong Kong investors. It's a truly international group.

To find out more about the group, you can click here to see a welcome video -> welcome video.

To RSVP for the Dec 6 MeetUp, click here: MeetUp page. (Please RSVP so we can get a headcount and reserve the right size room) or join the group if you want to keep up to date with our activities - at last count we had 49 members!

Also check out our Facebook page and give us a LIKE to help spread the word.

See you on Dec 6th. Thanks!

@Maxwell Lee  - thanks for making it out to Korea!

@Joshua Springer - thanks for the encouraging words. We actually have another one coming up on Dec 6th ^^

Thanks @Shelley Alterman

Good to know. I hooked up with some JV partners in the area and they have a PM

But if we look for another, I'll send you a message.

@Andrey Y. Thanks John. Great to hear more of your success stories. I like how you're not letting the distance stop you from investing in the States!

The Korea Real Estate Group continues to go strong!

As @John Van Uytven  posted a few weeks back, we had our first meetup in Seoul and were pleasantly surprised by the turnout.

Seoul Meet Up

This week we decided to host a Happy Hour for those who came to the Meet Up along with other people interested in real estate.

Our special guest (at least for me and @Benjamin Hauser ) - Our Joint Venture partners from Jacksonville, Florida, @Maxwell Lee @Kelly L.  were able to attend!

They didn't come just for the Happy Hour though ^^ They happened to be near Korea while traveling Europe and Asia, so they stopped by Seoul before heading back stateside this week.

Also in attendance, fellow BP Member @Jacob Michaels and his wife, Victoria.

I met Max and Kelly through BP and through Video Chatting, emails, etc, we eventually decided to invest together in Jax, along with my real estate partner here in Korea, Ben.

This weekend was the first time we were all able to meet in person..

So BP helps facilitate another "Investor Connection" -Thanks for all the great work @Joshua Dorkin & @Brandon Turner

Also, all the others mentioned in the post (except for Ben) were all people I met through BP.

I'm excited about the future. I will eventually start blogging on BP about what it's like to invest from abroad and how we're able to create the necessary systems, etc, to make it all work out.

It's been quite a journey so far! So I wonder:

Has anyone else traveled 7,531 miles to meet up with their partners for the first time? If not, maybe we've set a new BP Record!

And now for some pics:

(Great bar in Itaewon, Seoul - an area with lots of foreign restaurants, etc)

(Enjoying a quiet beer and the view before the fun begins)

(Talking Real Estate)

(Me - Right bottom; Max and Kelly to my right; John standing up - the dude with the goatee; Ben (in black) standing up far left in the back; Jacob and his wife Victoria - Jacob has the baby in his hands)

(Ben -right side in black - talking to some latecomers. I definitely need a better flash ^^)

(Ben preparing the beer / soju combinations - known as "Poktanju", which basically means 'explosion'. There will be many consumed as Kelly teaches us some Chinese drinking games. Games are fun.. but compared to Korean drinking games, much more complicated..)

Great to meet so many experienced investors as well as people just starting to learn the ropes. Definitely time well spent!

Great read and even better hearing about it in person. You're definitely a man of action and a smart deal maker. Nice meetup today and see you in Oct.

@Jae N Noh

Welcome to BP!

I've gotten a ton from this site. Met great people, found potential real estate partners, and networked with people who've been super generous with their time and knowledge.

Let me know if you ever have any questions about the site. Right now, I'm looking at buying a SF or MF in Jacksonville, Florida with a few other investors. Long term, I'd like to purchase large MF units as part of a joint venture deal and possibly do flips to earn money.

@John Van Uytven

When's the next time you're coming to Seoul? I'd love to hear how it's going!

@Jae N Noh

Sure.. join us!

@Ben Leybovich

No problem, my slightly more experienced colleague! (I think it's more than "slight" though ^^)
