I agree that MFs are not a strong point in this county. I would say if you could find a small equine friendly SF near the world equestrian center you could do pretty well. People are paying top dollar to rent and be near their horses.

I was born and raised in Ocala, specifically the 34472 area. This is known by the locals as "Porter's Shores". It is a subset of Silver Springs Shores (not to be confused with Silver Springs). It is a very suburban area that is a 10 minute drive to downtown, decent restaurants and grocery stores. It is very popular among the middle class and has a mix of brand new construction mixed with older, Florida style SFRs.

32179, on the other hand, is FAR more rural and woodsy. This is going out east of Ocala towards the Ocala National Forest. Lots of pockets of trailers, SFRs, farms and dirt roads. There are pockets of neighborhoods there but nowhere neat the density of 34472. There also isn't a lot in terms of shopping/grocery stores.

Short answer is no, they are not the same. But that doesn't mean you can't find good deals in either

@Erica L. I have a couple SFR homes in Ocala and I haven't had a vacant month in over 10 years. Properties rent very fast here, it's sorting through dozens of applicants that takes the most time.

Does anyone who invests in Fernandina beach have a metric they use for evaluating short term rentals? For instance, a 2/2 near the beach should average X amount per year or a property that cost Y should bring in a % of Y per month? I have a LTRs and a STR in other markets and but I do not know this area very well. Looking to connect with someone more familiar. Thanks

Hello all, is there anyone here that owns/operates any short term rentals in cedar key Florida? Looking to connect and find out more info, there isn't much on their chamber of commerce website. Thanks in advance.

Most reputable builders will offer some sort of 1 or 2 year home warranty. But you have to remember, just because the address says "Ocala" doesn't mean the home is within the city limits. Most new builds in that price range are in what's called unincorporated Marion County

Ocala is having some inventory issues right now (as is most of the country). There are a lot of new businesses bringing in lots of jobs here and people are flocking. If you can get your hands on a good deal, you won't have any issues renting for a long time.
