wow, a lot of good info on here! I'm new to this whole thing, I actually work at the local zoo, and I'm trying so hard to get out, so forgive my ignorance. So, I'm about to send out a wave of letters to a list of people, I have to form myself (no money to buy a list...work at the zoo). My question to you seasoned investors is how many people should I start out mailing to get that one "sweet" deal. After that, I'm cool with spending the extra money for the pre-formed lists, stamps, etc. For now, tell me how many letters, for a plain envelope, and some stamps. When I get that first deal, I must come back to this page and take a few more notes! great stuff!
any info is appreciated!

first of all its great to see somebody helping somebody out, and not be a jerk about a little "competition". I personally don't believe there is competition in this business, just a bunch of people scratching other peoples back.

That being said, I went on the rental list on craigslist in my Jacksonville, fl area and went down the list and emailed a BUNCH of people inquiring if any of them had any "problem" properties. needless to say ive gotten a few irate people emailing me back saying im the scum of the earth and that I should get a real job.

so im kind of thinking that my email didn't really send the right message, or maybe it was just him. My question is this(I hope it hasn't been asked): whats the best way to word an email of that nature? or a yellow letter? and when your direct mailing people, do you hand write the letters? by the sounds of it you have to send out a lot, not that im lazy because im not, but that's a lot of hand written letters. Would it be alright to type them up?

im sure ill have more questions but that's a good start. im sorry if its already been asked, its getting late, and I have a lot to read on here.

Thanks!
