There has been a lot of recent development in Newark lately, some completed some still being developed. We're you referring more to the jersey city area or Newark?

Hey guys,

I'm having a pretty hard time finding a location to purchase a 2 family home in which I plan to live in and rent out the other unit. I’m looking around the Queens, Nassau, North and Central jersey within decent proximity to Manhattan which is where I and my wife both work. I figured this would be the best place to seek advice given most are involved in real estate on here. It seems everywhere i find a decent home in a decent area, the property taxes are ridiculous or we just can’t afford the area. Our budget is 290K. With that said, I know it is not much which is the reason why we are having this issue is. What areas would you recommend looking at, particularly in central/north jersey area, that is family and commuter friendly where we would be able to afford a home. Thanks for any help.
