Other than the credit dings you took from applying, you just utilized it like one would any LOC

Also they typically want 100K as the minimum loan amount. At 20-25% down you’d be borrowing a max of 75K so they may object due to not enough “meat on the bone”.

@Jaron Chaplin depends on the amount capital you need vs LTV. With a Heloc you only pay on what you've drawn. If you plan on using most of it, maybe the loan is worth it.

@Bini Teklehaimanot Not really, i was in that boat 4 years ago. Best bet is to (FHA) house hack at 3.5% down, JV with someone with the capital or have a rich uncle.

It'll be tough, usually the minimum draw is 30-50k. Then on top of that they're real conservative towards self employed ppl like ourselves. I'd hit the forums for a PML or a lender who offer no-doc helocs.

I actually am doing that now in North Houston, but I'm fortunate to have a lot of former teammates who just so happen to want to live in Houston (went to college in Louisiana). There's an app called Spare room that I was introduced to, it may work in your favor.
