@Brian (I'm genuinely curious here), is that something you have clear proof of, or what you believe should happen? I'm asking because I too agree that that should be how it works, but I'm dubious of it (especially if it isn't spelled out somewhere, or there isn't precedent [which I wouldn't think precedent could exist since we're still under eviction moratorium]).

Just as a note in there, be aware that taking the assistance requires that you keep the tenant. Here's a screenshot of the relevant section (highlighting is mine):

I was surprised with my reassessment, though after realizing that it's calculated every 4 years and having purchased within that window, I came to the realization Matthew mentions above. I'm also curious how folks holding longer have fared.

Welcome to the community! As a fellow Rochester investor early on in the game (started learning about a year ago, purchased first duplex late last year), I hope you find much success on BP and locally!

Hi Jared,

Welcome to the community! I go to a monthly meeting for Tri-County REIA. It's a relatively new group, but has lots of people with excellent experiences to share. Feel free to look it up or ask questions!

Hi Whitney,

Welcome to BP! I actually lived in Silicon Valley for about a year before moving back to Rochester this past winter (I still work out there ~25% of the time). If you ever want to meet up for coffee to chat (in either location), let me know!

Hi Cheri,

Welcome to BP and the greater real estate investing community! There will undoubtedly be many more people with much more experience who respond after me, but I wanted to extend an invitation to meet up as well. I'm in the process of closing on my first deal (a 4-plex), and I'd be glad to talk about my experiences (as well as some of the excellent local resources that exist)!

Cheers,
David

I'm also new to the site. My wife and I are moving back (both did undergrads in the area about 5 years ago) from California, and I'm looking forward to exploring a market that I can actually afford. In the process of buying a SFR for the purpose of settling in to the area again, with intentions to rent it out in a couple of years if it makes sense.
