Hello Kevin,

Welcome to BP! Securing my Family's future is also the motivation for my real estate investing, so I certainly understand your motivations. BP is a great place to learn and network with people who can move you closer to these goals. Best of luck!

Hi Jackie,

Yes there is certainly opportunity in Central America and other emerging markets!

Being on the ground is really key! And having a network of good local partners who can provide the local, culturally nuanced and contextualized knowledge, will I think be key to your success.

Would be interested in hearing more about opportunities in that region. My only experience in that part of the world though is a 2 week holiday in Guatemala.

Had it not been for my international work and travel I too would have been skeptical of investing internationally. The news coverage of many countries is often limited, the sound/visual bites they offer are real but as they lack context and depth they send a distorted message... but perhaps this is good as it reduces the competition :)

Good luck with your ventures!
Paul

Yes and no. The area where the property is located is a mixture of vacation homes and homes occupied by foreign professionals working in the hotel and financial services sectors. Rather than keeping it empty we have been renting out the property typically on 1-year leases.

Chris,

Thank you for this reply and your suggestion.

Actually, I have a property which I'm looking to sell, it's a 3-bedroom, 2 bathroom next to the Four Seasons resort property and located in Nevis - the island where Alexander Hamilton, on the US$10 bill, was born.

Will look at the website you mentioned, perhaps they can help me advertise the property.

I've heard good things about Costa Rica, but never been there but had some good times in Guatemala.

Good luck in Grand Cayman and Costa Rica!!

Best regards,
Paul

Hello,
Has anyone on the forum bought or sold residential properties in the Caribbean? Would appreciate advice or leads. Thanks in advance, Paul
