Welcome, Travis! I'm looking to invest in the Charlotte and surrounding areas as well. Be great to build up the newbie connections and be there for each other as needed.

Good luck, man!

When you take the post licensing classes, you move from PB to Broker (like an agent in other states), and the BIC is still responsible but to a much lower capacity. So, for someone who wants to hang their license with a company but doesn't want to commit to the education to minimize the BIC's exposure....it doesn't seem like a great arrangement for the BIC if he doesn't know the person. So, it's difficult to just pass the test to just get MLS access...you'll need to navigate a relationship with a BIC....likely will be a very small firm, and with a BIC who knows you.

I appreciate all of the answers everyone. Very helpful!

@Adam Schneider Great info. That was my understanding of how it worked for NC, but wanted to make sure. I'm currently in WV and don't believe we have that broker-only status here. For my purposes, probably still not worth going to get my license. Will need to make some connections and build relationships once I get there.:)

I'm hoping to be in Charlotte by the end of the year myself. Looking forward to meeting up with like-minded investors once I get there.:)

Post: Broker-Only State Realtor License Questions

Hello BP family!

I was looking into getting my realtor's license in NC and found that it is a broker-only state. I was primarily just wanting the license to get MLS access, but upon what I've read, I don't know if it's as simple as that. It seems you have to have a broker to hang your license. I don't plan on being a real estate agent, showing houses and such and working for a company.

I suppose my questions are:
1)Are there brokers that will let you hang your license just so you can have MLS access?

2)What would the fees potentially be for this?

3)Knowing this, is it worth even pursuing the license? Perhaps other advantages to getting it other than MLS access?

4)Am I overlooking something? lol

Any input or advice is appreciated everyone.

Thanks!
Daniel

Hey Freddy! Great to hear. I plan to be in the Charlotte area by the end of the year and get rolling as well. Looking for SFRs and Multi-Families. Deals don't last long there, so getting a team in place is crucial. Good luck and we'll have to keep in touch and see where this journey takes us. Take care!

I will be heading to the Charlotte market probably before the end of the year and will also be looking to meet up with other local investors once I get settled in and get my bearings there. Very excited in the market there!
