Broker-Only State Realtor License Questions

Hello BP family!

I was looking into getting my realtor's license in NC and found that it is a broker-only state. I was primarily just wanting the license to get MLS access, but upon what I've read, I don't know if it's as simple as that. It seems you have to have a broker to hang your license. I don't plan on being a real estate agent, showing houses and such and working for a company.

I suppose my questions are:
1)Are there brokers that will let you hang your license just so you can have MLS access?

2)What would the fees potentially be for this?

3)Knowing this, is it worth even pursuing the license? Perhaps other advantages to getting it other than MLS access?

4)Am I overlooking something? lol

Any input or advice is appreciated everyone.

Thanks!
Daniel

@Daniel Shuler You are correct that you need a firm to agree to allow you to hang your license in North Carolina, you become a PB (Provisional Broker) until you take the 3 post-licensing classes. When you are a PB, the BIC (Broker In Charge) is responsible for all of your actions. When you take the post licensing classes, you move from PB to Broker (like an agent in other states), and the BIC is still responsible but to a much lower capacity. So, for someone who wants to hang their license with a company but doesn't want to commit to the education to minimize the BIC's exposure....it doesn't seem like a great arrangement for the BIC if he doesn't know the person. So, it's difficult to just pass the test to just get MLS access...you'll need to navigate a relationship with a BIC....likely will be a very small firm, and with a BIC who knows you.
